Q&A - Self Interview
When did you start riding?
I started when I was 11 years old, never had thought about riding at all until I was surprised by my parents with a little Yamaha TTR125L. I rode that thing into the ground! Everyday I'd go to our shop and ride it off little jumps I had built and practice wheelies.
Have you always been a MX guy?
No, when I first started riding it was all trails for me, every weekend we would load up the bikes and head to the hills! But I'm thankful for that. Over those years that I only rode trails, I became very skilled with all types of terrain and riding. It was the best way for me to start, I harnessed a lot of the technique that I apply into MX racing today from those trail rides.
Q&A - Personal
Do you train? What does your schedule look like?
Yes I do train, I go to the track every weekend and if I have a day off from school I'll spend it at the track as well. I try to go to the gym often to keep me in shape for MX. I focus on my arms, legs and core for 2 days and then cardio for the other 2. During this upcoming summer I get my licence and will be able to go the track almost everyday to practice.
What has been your most embarrassing moment?
Definitely trying to do a no hander for the first time! The first time I tried it was over a 75 foot table and when I went to put my hands back on the bars I missed with one and knifed them. When I landed I bounced and went over handle bars, sliding/rolling down the landing was the worst but I popped back up moved my bike and lucky both me and the bike were fine. The bike didn't even have a scratch but I had some road rash on my arm it had peeled off like the first layer of my skin. I didn't even know it though so I just kept on riding!
Employment / Experience Summary
I am currently employed by Mountain west landscapes, during the summer I do maintenance, move rock with skid-steers and I do commercial mowing. During the winter I help them with commercial snow removal.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
I want to be a professional MX/SX racer and am willing to do whatever it takes to get to that level. I love this sport and am looking to advance until I'm at the top. After racing I want to stay involved, be in product development for race wear, on someones pit crew, start my own race team or help manage a team.
